Although the IRS will begin accepting electonic filing on 1/30/2013, many states will not be ready until 1 or 2 weeks later.
Taxes can still be prepared, but filing will be delayed.
Congress and the President do not seem to realize that most Americans will pay more than $3,000 in additional federal taxes if they do not find some compromise about the expiration of tax laws by 12/31/2012. The “Fiscal Cliff” means massive automatic spending cuts, the loss of unemployment benefits and additional taxes that we as taxpayers haven’t paid in more than 20 years.
It’s time to tell YOUR LAWMAKERS how you feel about the job they are doing….or, not doing!
Your children are ready to start school, and you wouldn’t send them without school supplies, right?!
Maybe we should talk about your business and personal tax information with the same “Time to Prepare Attitude”……..since the year is almost 3/4 finished. Are your records in order? Accounting systems up-to-date? What about capital gains? Are you purchasing business assets? Should the business buy a vehicle? Do you need itemized deductions? What about estimated taxes?
It would be nice if we could just buy the supplies for our taxes like we buy new school supplies, but that isn’t going to happen. Instead, we need to plan, evaluate and implement in order to maximize the benefits we can use in the tax code. Maybe it’s time to call your accountant……

The IRS mileage rate for 2011 is $.555 per mile, for standard mileage.
Now is the time to get your information together. 1099’s and W-2s must be mailed to receipients by 1/31/2012.
December is upon us……and that means that taxes are not far behind.
Have you started preparing for year-end? W-2’s, 1099’s, payroll tax reports and of course taxes are all part of the regular routine.
Putting your receipts together, updating your accounting records and discussing items with your accountant can make your tax preparation much easier….if you take advantage of the time between now and your tax deadline. Why not take 15 minutes to make sure your information is ready?
Your accountant will thank you!!
2011 taxes are right around the corner….and so are the changes Congress passed in 2009. Are you ready? Have you talked to your tax preparer about how the new tax code will affect you?
One of the biggest changes is…..if you itemize your deductions, and you have medical expenses, you will lose an additional 2.5% of your medical expenses! That will have a significant impact on many taxpayers.
Don’t wait! Call us today about how we may be able to help you reclaim your medical expense deductions!
